The Amazon Appstore

I'm sure most of you guys know this already, but have you checked out the Amazon Appstore for Android? You can download it for free from Amazon.com. All you have to do is to load Amazon.com in your mobile web browser and Amazon will give you a link to download the APK file. Once you have downloaded the file, it will give you an option to install it (you will have to change the settings on your device to allow for installation of non-market applications). Thats it, you're done.

The best part about Amazon's app store is they let you download a really cool app every day for free (much like the weekly free stuff on iTunes). Angry Birds Rio has been free for a while and continues to be free. The other cool stuff Amazon has handed out include:

  • Shazam Encore ($4.80 on the market)
  • Soundhound Infinity ($4.99 on the market)
  • Doodle Jump ($0.99 on the market)
  • Fruit Ninja ($1.22 on the market).
And yes, these are the full versions - not the lite variants. The other really nice thing about the Amazon Appstore is that the apps that you have downloaded - even if you got them for free - transfer between devices if you switch out to a new device.

So head on over to the Amazon Appstore and get yourself some quality apps for FREE!
